Does not ring true

Letter to the Editor
envelope letter 2

Dear Editor

Good day.

I have taken note that a certain R.H. Wood of North Battleford appears to have an almost weekly political column in our fair paper.

This week, R.H. Wood, makes yet another speech aimed at an ineffectual federal government, which is, dear editor, barely newsworthy.

Where I become confused is when he describes the proposed Saskatchewan NDP wealth tax as a way of trapping the middle class into some kind of inescapable economic situation?

This sounds quite dire if you are perhaps a member of the top percent of earners. It certainly does not ring true to the other ninety nine and a half percent of us!

It’s high time the top percent of earners pay their fair share in taxes to enjoy the benefit of a healthy province. The top earners also benefit from collective taxes in the form of quality healthcare and a myriad of other essential services, either directly or by proxy.

H.R  Wood is either a member of this elite class or he believes he will become one some day in the future. As for me, a regular citizen with no delusions of future economic grandeur, a tax policy that requires us all to pay our fair share, including the wealthiest among us, sounds like a good start!
