P.A. man charged with drugs, weapons offences, denied bail

A Prince Albert man charged with weapons and drug-related offences was denied bail. Kevin Ackegan, 40, had an eighth show cause hearing scheduled on July 20 in Prince Albert Provincial Court and a warrant of committal was issued.

A Prince Albert man charged with weapons and drug-related offences was denied bail.

Kevin Ackegan, 40, had an eighth show cause hearing scheduled on July 20 in Prince Albert Provincial Court and a warrant of committal was issued.

Prince Albert Police Integrated Crime Reduction Team arrested Ackegan on Feb. 26 during a traffic stop. Police searched his vehicle and found two firearms and ammunition, a machete, a knife, bear spray, hydromorphone, methamphetamine, and Gabapentin pills. They also found U.S., Jamaican and Canadian currency. A second person was arrested during the traffic stop but police didn't release the individual's name. 

Ackegan is now scheduled to appear by CCTV in Prince Albert Provincial Court on July 27 to elect how he wants to be tried.
