The Battlefords AA Barons are tied with Swift Current Abbey Resources Broncos going into the third and decisive game of their provincial finals.
The two teams were scheduled to play game three Wednesday in Swift Current.
The series began Friday in southwest city. It was in that game that the Barons pulled off a stunning accomplishment by handing Swift Current their very first loss of the season by a 4-1 score. Goals by Ashton Harris and Rocsyn Bird gave the Barons a 2-1 lead after one, and power play goals by Chase Taggart in the second and Connor Neave in the third added to the lead as the Barons cruised to the win.
The Barons had a chance to clinch the provincial title at home Saturday afternoon at the Civic Centre, and the Barons did take the early lead of Jaryd Nachtegaele’s opening goal six minutes into the first period.
Swift Current tied it later in the period, then added two goals in the third to take game two, setting up the decisive final game.
Game three goes at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the I-Plex in Swift Current.
