Beaver Blues winning, play again Friday, Saturday

Here is a rundown of the action this past week from local hockey teams.

SPHL

In weekend action, on Friday night the Battleford Beaver Blues hammered Perdue 11-4 in Delisle, Meota beat Radisson 7-4 and Shellbrook beat Glaslyn 8-5. Saturday action saw Battleford beat Perdue at home 10-2, Radisson beat Spiritwood 10-7 and Edam hammered Meota 8-2 in Edam. In that latter contest Jared Blaquiere had a hat trick and two assists for the Three Stars.

While the SJHL’s North Stars are off until Dec. 28, the SPHL will be filling the void for local hockey fans this weekend with eight games, including Battleford taking on Meota Dec. 21 at Battleford Arena. The two rivals play each other again Saturday at the Combines home rink, the North Battleford Civic Centre.

Sask West Hockey League

In Sask West league play from the weekend, on Friday the Macklin Mohawks beat the Wilkie Outlaws 4-3 in overtime, on Saturday the Mohawks beat Biggar 6-5 while Kindersley beat Wilkie 4-3, and on Sunday Unity beat the Mohawks 6-4.

Standings have the Klippers on top of the league with a 9-0 record, with the Outlaws second at 8-1-1.

Next action has Wilkie in Biggar on Friday night while Saturday sees Unity go to Wilkie while Luseland is in Kindersley.

AAA Stars

The Stars were scheduled to play the Saskatoon Blazers on Tuesday night at the Civic Centre in their final game of 2018. The next action for the Stars after the holiday break will be Jan. 5, 2019 at Co-operators Arena against the Regina Pat Canadians.

AAA Sharks

The Sharks are coming off a split of their games against the Regina Rebels in Regina, losing 3-1 on Saturday but winning 3-2 in a shootout Sunday. Madison Sansom and Ali Aitken scored the two winning shootout goals in that contest.

The Sharks play again Friday and Saturday in Prince Albert against the North Bears before going on their holiday break. Their next home game is Jan. 5 versus Swift Current.
