The 3A football playoffs have come to an end for the John Paul II Crusaders.

The Crusaders lost to Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks 23-15 Saturday afternoon in the nine-man 3A semifinals at Crusader Field in North Battleford.

Humboldt was in control most of the way, leading 6-1 at the half and 16-1 through three quarters. They also consumed plenty of clock before adding another touchdown to take a 23-1 lead.

To their credit the Crusaders mounted a furious late comeback in the final few minutes, scoring two late touchdowns and then recovering an onside kick with 30 seconds left. But their final drive ended with 10 seconds left when they failed to convert on third down, and Humboldt held on for the win.

Humboldt now moves on to the 3A finals against Lumsden on Saturday.
