One team is in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League finals while another is close to clinching after playoff games this weekend.

Into the finals are the Edam Three Stars, who punched their ticket after a series sweep of the defending champion Meota Combines.

Edam won game two at the Civic Centre 8-6 on Thursday last week before clinching the series at home 7-1 on Sunday. Joel Blaquiere scored two goals each in both game two and game three to lead Edam.

Meanwhile, the Battleford Beaver Blues are close to clinching the other spot in the finals after two wins over Shellbrook Silvertips.

Both wins were by identical 5-4 scores. Brent Salzl had a hat trick in the first game for the Blues, while Cody Danberg had a hat trick in the second game on Sunday.

Game three of that series is Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Battleford. If necessary, game four is Sunday in Shellbrook.
