Basketball season is over in schools all across Saskatchewan due to the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation job action.

The Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association had set a 3:30 p.m. deadline for both sides to resolve the impasse. In a statement on their website, the SHSAA announced there was no notice that the sanctions being implemented at midnight would be withdrawn.

Through discussions with the parties, the SHSAA stated they were "unable to determine if there would be any immediate solution to the impasse; therefore, it is with regret that all remaining SHSAA sanctioned basketball events for the 2019-20 high school season of play are cancelled."

In addition, all SHSAA badminton events are suspended until further notice; that season is scheduled to conclude May 9.

John Paul II Collegiate had been scheduled to host 4A boys regionals this weekend. That is not going ahead, nor are any of the other regional basketball tournaments or HOOPLA going ahead.
