Battlefords Colby Cave has had a productive season so far with the WHL's Swift Current Broncos and because of that his name has appeared on the Central Scouting's Preliminary Watch List.

He was drafted 13th overall in the 2009 Western Hockey League's bantam draft by the Kootenay Ice and now Colby Cave is one of the top players with the Swift Current Broncos.

Cave played 70 games last season with the Broncos and notched six goals and 10 assists. After just 21 games this season, Cave surpassed his goal total from last season. Cave netted a hat trick when the Broncos played in Swift Current last week and now has seven goals on the season. The Battlefords product has also chipped in with six assists in 23 games and has 16 penalty minutes this season.

The Broncos are second in the East Division with a 9-9-3-2 record and Cave has been a big factor in the team's success. For that his name has been floated around some hockey forums as a late round draft pick in this year's NHL entry draft. Cave's name appeared on the Central Scouting's Preliminary Watch List earlier this month as well.

Although thinking about the NHL draft may seem far away, Cave has one milestone that is quickly approaching. He has played 94 career WHL games with the Broncos and should reach the 100 mark by early December.

Cave played for the Battlefords Barons during his minor hockey days, was a member of the Battlefords Midget Stars and an affiliate of the Battlefords North Stars before joining the WHL full time as a 16-year-old.
