Local baseball umpire Philip McGee was invited to attend his third national championship, the Canada Cup, held Aug. 7 to 11 in Regina.

This is one of the premiere national baseball championships held in Canada and features the best 17 U players from across the country.

Officiating this tournament are 12 umpires selected from across Canada.

Battlefords Minor Baseball Inc. is congratulating McGee on his hard work this year being awarded the gold medal game as plate umpire, which featured team Nova Scotia winning 3-2 over team Ontario in the gold medal game.

“Philip has been a great ambassador for our youth in baseball around the Battlefords. Phil, BMBI wishes you the very best with your umpiring future endeavors,” says Clint Gieni, BMBI president.
