Nine strokes under par is what it took to be crowned the 2012 Saskatchewan Amateur Men's Championship winner last week in Yorkton.
The 101st version of the Saskatchewan Amateur Men's Championship was held at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course and Saskatoon's Tyler Frank was crowned the champion.
Locals in the field included Maidstone's Brock Harrison, who got up as high as into a tie for 13th during the four rounds, but finished 26th overall. Harrison shot 75-71-74-79 to finish 11 strokes over par.
Battlefords Nevin Glow also competed in Yorkton and finished +21 (74-78-76-81) and in a tie for 36th.
The championship began with 79 golfers taking to the field and of those who started 37 made the cut to play on the final two days.
Frank's win made history, as he became the second Saskatchewan golfer to win the amateur and mid-amateur championships in the same year.
Frank, Cadmus Delorme of Cowessess First Nation and Jesse Gibson of Saskatoon will now make up Team Saskatchewan and compete at the Willingdon Cup at the Camelot Golf and Country Club in Cumberland, Ont. and the Club de golf Outaouais in Rockland, Ont. Aug. 7 to 10.
