Medals for McFadyen at national meet

Area athlete Jenna McFadyen has come home with medals following a successful National Legion Track and Field Championships in Brandon, Man. The Waseca competitor competed for Team Saskatchewan in the steeple events.

Area athlete Jenna McFadyen has come home with medals following a successful National Legion Track and Field Championships in Brandon, Man.

The Waseca competitor competed for Team Saskatchewan in the steeple events.

In the under-18 women’s 2000 metre steeplechase, McFadyen finished second with a time of 7:09.61, 1/10th behind the winner Camille Boudreau of Quebec.

In the under-18 women’s 3000M McFadyen placed third with a time of 10.02.76.

The podium finish comes on the heels of some other recent success for McFadyen on the track. In late July, McFadyen also competed at the 2018 Sherwood Park Track Classic, a tri-province meet. In that meet she set a record in the under-18 3000M run at 10.21.98, breaking the meet record of 10.25.46.

She also set a meet record in the girls’ 2000M steeplechase 30” at 7.10.31, breaking the previous meet record of 7.22.15.   

Overall, in the individual rankings in the 27 under 18 tri province division, McFadyen finished in fourth place.
