The Battleford Midget AA Barons extended their winning streak to five last weekend after winning all three games played in the CFHL.

Battleford started the weekend with a win on the road in Turtleford, beating the Midwest Redwings 3-2 Friday night.

Braydon Buziak struck first for the Barons midway through the first period, putting the puck past Midwest goaltender Chase McEwen.

The Redwings tied the game 22 seconds into the second period when Jesse Stansfield beat Battleford goalie Taryn Kotchorek. The Barons regained the lead two minutes later on Owen Lamb's goal from Keegan Tiringer.

Lamb extended the lead in the third period, scoring an unassisted goal with 9:13 left. The Redwings scored with 54 seconds remaining to make it interesting, but could not find the equalizer.

The Barons continued their road trip Saturday night in Warman with a 5-3 win over the Wildcats.

Kevin Bendall opened the scoring for Battleford three minutes into the game. Warman answered back when Clayton McKenzie scored on Barons' goalie Matthew Flath. Connor Urlacher gave the Barons the lead again, tallying an unassisted marker midway through the frame. McKenzie scored his second goal of the game to tie the game at two heading into the first intermission.

Battleford took over in the second, scoring three times. Jayden Nachtegaele, Quinton Cubbon and Tiringer all found the back of the net for the Barons.

The Wildcats added a goal in the third to cut the lead to two, but did not come any closer.

Battleford closed out the weekend with another hard-fought, 3-2 win over the Midwest Redwings.

Kotchorek shut the door in the first period, stopping all 16 shots he faced in a period dominated by the Redwings.

Midwest solved Kotchorek early in the second period. Branden Threefingers was left alone in front of the net and buried the first goal of the game.

The Barons replied midway through the period on a power play. Bendall put home a rebound Redwings' goaltender Brendan Plant could not find. Battleford was awarded a penalty shot when Tiringer was brought down from behind into the Midwest net. Tiringer made no mistake on his attempt, beating Plant high on the glove side.

Battleford extended the lead to two midway through the third. Cubbon collected a rebound off Plant's mask and slid the puck past the goaltender. Damian Nordell scored late in the third for the Redwings, but it was too little too late.

The Barons (14-4-1) remain on top of the CFHL standings with 29 points, eight points ahead of North East. Battleford heads to Unity Tuesday night to take on the Lazers. The Barons return home Sunday to face North East. Game time is 11:15 a.m. at the Civic Centre.
