North Stars are back in action, beat Klippers 5-2

The 12-day holiday layoff for the Battlefords North Stars is done, as they returned to action Friday with a convincing 5-2 road win over their rivals the Kindersley Klippers.

The 12-day holiday layoff for the Battlefords North Stars is done, as they returned to action Friday with a convincing 5-2 road win over their rivals the Kindersley Klippers.

It was the first of a home-and-home set for the North Stars who now run their win streak to four in a row. The North Stars got goals from Ben Hiltz (on the power play) and Logan Spence to take a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Kindersley came back with goals from Liam Fraser later in the first, and then Michael Neumeier on the power play at the 1:03 mark of the second.

But the North Stars took the lead for good midway through the second on Austin Becker's 14th of the season. Goals from Seth Summers and Rylan Nivon in the third completed the scoring on the night. 

Austin Schwab got the win in net for the North Stars stoppign 27 of 29; Matt Sankner stopped 19 of 24 North Stars shots in net for Kindersley.

The two teams do battle again Saturday night at the Civic Centre for the North Stars' first home contest of 2020..
