It was a tough schedule of three games in three nights for the Battlefords North Stars, but they still came away on the plus side of the win ledger after a 2-1 win over the Weyburn Red Wings on the road Friday.

After a scoreless first period, Elijah Loon-Stewardson got things rolling for the North Stars with a goal at 5:15, Liam Antoniuk and Walter Somers assisting.

Antoniuk later scored shorthanded from Brett Gammer to make it 2-0 at the 18:46 mark and that would be all the insurance the North Stars needed.

A late Wings goal by Rhett Frey with 32 seconds remaining in the game made the final score 2-1.

The North Stars outshot the Red Wings 34-19; Parker Rey got the win in net for the North Stars.

The North Stars are back on the road in their next action Tuesday night in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds.
