The North Stars are working toward finishing top of their division, winning a 6-3 banger over the Notre Dame Hounds Friday night.

Owen Lamb opened the scoring for the North Stars, although Notre Dame's Nolan Renwick answered back on a power play goal. Quintin Loon-Stewardson potted another before the end of the period.

The Hounds capitalized on the power play again in the second with a goal from Jarrett Penner. Lamb and Loon-Stewardson each scored again before the end of the second to notch ahead 4-2 before the buzzer.

Hound goalie Matt Lukacs didn't fare well in the third and let in two goals on two shots to North Stars Dayton Heino and Dylan Esau. The Hounds couldn't mound a comeback apart from a third period marker by Tanner Tarbell.

Referees gave penalties for rough stuff in the second and third periods, and things spilled over early in the third period. When all was said and done, each team got 19 roughing penalty minutes. Curtis Wiebe and MacGregor Sinclair were chucked from the game in the third period.

The North Stars play Saturday night in Humboldt.
