The Battlefords North Stars have filled their assistant coaching and athletic therapist/equipment manager positions for the coming season.
The new assistant coach is Brett Parker, who will be working alongside new head coach Brayden Klimosko next season.
Parker was head coach of the Saskatoon Royals for two years in the Prairie Junior Hockey League, where he was named 2018 Coach of the Year.
Parker, who is from Melville, has experience playing for the Prince George Cougars and Vancouver Giants of the WHL and the Melville Millionaries of the SJHL. He played for the U of S Huskies and for Pensacola of the Southern Professional league.
Head coach Klimosko described Parker as a “proven winner and competitor,” and added that “his passion for the game is second to none.”
Also on Tuesday, the North Stars announced that Andrew Kutnikoff had been hired as athletic therapist/equipment manager.
Kutnikoff, who is originally from Prince Albert, holds a kinesiology degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a degree in athletic therapy from the University of Winnipeg, and has worked for the past two seasons with the MJHL’s Selkirk Steelers, the University of Winnipeg wrestling teams and Canada Games softball, among others.
In a news release, the North Stars stated they looked forward to welcoming Kutnikoff to the Battlefords community.
