The Battlefords North Stars could have easily taken the night off after clinching the top seed in the SJHL.

But that did not happen. The North Stars showed up in Nipawin, much to the Hawks' chagrin, as they won 3-1 to take two out of three on their weekend road trip.

It was Nipawin who opened the scoring on a Caden Benson goal at the 1:18 mark. After that it was all North Stars as Seth Summers scored a power play goal at 13:43.

There was no scoring in the second, and then the North Stars broke the logjam in the third period with goals from Timon Prexler, and then by Logan Spence shorthanded into an empty net.

Final shots favored the North Stars 31-26 and it was Kristian Lyon getting the win for the North Stars.

The North Stars have three games left in the regular season; their next game is in Humboldt on Feb. 26.
