The Battlefords North Stars followed up their win over Melfort with a dominating 5-1 performance over the Melville Millionaires Saturday night.

Three unanswered goals set the pace for the North Stars, with two in the first period from Dylan McCabe and Austin Becker and a third goal in period two from Matthew Fletcher. Melville did have an opportunity at the 4:27 mark of period two when Aidan Steinke was awarded a penalty shot, but Kristian Lyon foiled that attempt.

Steinke did get a goal for Melville later in the second period, but Matthias Urbanski restored the three goal lead and then Elijah Loon-Stewardson scored into an empty net while the North Stars were in a shorthanded situation.

The North Stars outshot the Mils 38-33 with Lyon stopping 32 shots for the win.

The win is the 41st of the season for the North Stars as they move cloer to clinching first overall in the SJHL, with a 13 [pomt lead over the Flin Flon Bombers. The Bombers have only nine games left on their schedule to catch the North Stars. Meanwhile the Millionaires' playoff hopes dim even further as they are now 16 points behind Estevan with ten games left.

The North Stars are back in action Tuesday night at home to Notre Dame.
