It may not be the real thing but the SJHL’s simulated Canalta Cup semifinal series between the Battlefords North Stars and Yorkton Terriers has been exciting so far.

The series sees the North Stars ahead after the first three games. Game one in North Battleford saw the Terriers take a 2-0 lead before the North Stars came back to tie it. It was Matthias Urbanski’s goal with just 0.6 seconds remaining on the clock that tied the game and forced overtime, with the Terriers ultimately prevailing.

The second game saw the North Stars put in a dominating performance, winning by a 6-2 final score. Game three went Sunday with the North Stars beating Yorkjton 7-3 in front of a hostile crowd in Yorkton.

Game four is scheduled for Monday night, with game five Wednesday. The simulated games, staged on EA Sports’ NHL 20 platform, are being streamed on the Twitch.tv platform.
