There are still three undefeated-and-untied teams at the top of the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League schedule.

On top is the Unity Cardinals who have won five in a row, the latest being a 10-2 romp over the Meadow Lake Sox on Sunday afternoon. The Border City Blue Jays are next at 4-0, and the North Battleford Beavers are third at 3-0.

The Beavers beat out the winless St. Walburg Reds by a 14-4 score at home Monday to improve to three straight wins on the season. The loss dropped St. Walburg to 0-5 going into Tuesday’s game against the 2-0-1 Wilkie Brewers.

At 0-3, the North Battleford Midgets were still searching for a win going into their games Tuesday in Macklin and Wednesday in Lloydminster against the Twins. They are due to play at home next Monday against the Unity Cardinals.

The Battlefords Trappers were 1-2 heading into play this week. The Trappers were scheduled to host the Unity Midgets Wednesday and then Mervin on Thursday.

Some early statistical leaders have also emerged in the league following the weekend’s play.

According to the league’s website, Cory Wildeman of the Unity Cardinals leads in singles with 12 hits and doubles with four. Wildeman also leads the league in RBIs with six. His teammate Braden Poireis leads the league in runs scored at 10.
