Photos - Jacques Lacock finishes Fin Island Run with top 18K time

The Fin Island Run was underway again recently, this year taking place on Aug. 24. Participants got some exercise and a feel-good uplift as the run raised over $800 for the Canadian Mental Health Association - Battlefords Branch.

Participants got some exercise and a feel-good uplift as the run raised over $800 for the Canadian Mental Health Association - Battlefords Branch.

According to the Fin Island Run Facebook page, “[it’s] so great to be able to give back to our community that gives so much to us every year to keep our event going year after year!”

In the 1K event, Graham Nagy of Vonda placed first, with a time of 2:16. Madison Harder of Denholm had a time of 3:41, and North Battleford’s top finisher in the category was Cohen Lafreniere, with a time of 3:50. Gabrielle Ball, Battleford’s top finisher, had a time of 4:09.

Harvey Weber of Saskatoon had the top time in the 5K event, finishing at 26:13, Kaylee Kisser of Lloydminster finished with 27:37, and Battleford’s Tristan Ball finished with a 28:27 time. Other top finishers included Julia Egert of Cando and Clay Lazar of North Battleford.

Another Egert from Cando, Lisa, had a top finish in the 10K event with 44:44. Nicole Dubois and Ryan Wandler of Saskatoon and Ellyssa Neilsen of North Battleford each finished under 47 minutes. Battleford’s top finisher, among those in the results who recorded their hometowns, was Chantel Lapointe.

In the long 18K event, Jacques Lacock of Battleford had a top time of 1:13:42. Second place finisher Rhonda Serafini of Baldwinton clocked 1.35:37. Lacock ran 4:37 per kilometre.

Carolyn McKinnon of Vermilion, Danny Kerslake of Saskatoon and Jim Lafreniere of North Battleford each finished under 1:40:00.
