The Robyn Silvernagle team remain in contention Friday at the BOOST National in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland -- part of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling.

At the end of group play Friday, Team Silvernagle had two wins and two losses, coming off a big 7-6 win over Rachel Homan. Now Silvernagle will play a tiebreaker against Silvana Tirinzoni of Switzerland tonight to determine a playoff spot.

There had been some tense moments for the team before play even started. Team lead Kara Thevenot found herself stuck in airports for hours en route to St. John’s, but made it in time for the first game Wednesday, a 7-6 loss to Elena Stern.

The afternoon contest saw the team fare much better, winning 8-2 over Sayaka Yoshimura of Japan.

On Thursday, Silvernagle lost again, this time to Anna Hasselborg 4-3 in an extra end. That set up a must-win game versus Rachel Homan on Friday.

In that game Silvernagle got a boost with a four-point third end to take a 4-2 lead through three. But the Homan team came back, and with the score 6-6 in the eighth end Silvernagle’s last rock bumped another Silvernagle yellow rock into the house for the winning point.

The team now heads to tonight's tiebreaker game with Tirinzoni to determine whether they advance to the playoff quarterfinals.
