The Battlefords AAA Stars got a much-needed road win in Beardy’s against the Blackhawks last Thursday, by a convincing 5-1 final score.

The Blackhawks opened the scoring with a goal from Robert Pizzey, but the Stars responded with five unanswered goals for the victory.

It was Owen Slugoski who tied the game in the first period, with Colby Ralston giving the Stars the lead moments later near the midway point of the period.

Carson Dobson added to the lead in the second period. Then the Stars put the game away with two third period goals; one from Tanner Willick on the power play and another from Ethan Grabowski to complete the scoring.

The win is the 12th on the season for the Stars, who now have 27 points on the season, 11 back of the Swift Current Legionnaires for the last playoff spot with nine games left in the regular season.

The Stars host those same Legionnaires on Saturday and Sunday at the Civic Centre.
