The Battlefords Sharks put their regular Saskatchewan league action on hold for a weekend as they headed to Winnipeg, Manitoba for the Female Midget AAA Challenge.

The tournament attracted teams from across Manitoba as well as two teams from Saskatchewan, Weyburn being the other one. The Sharks played four games in the tournament, losing three and tying one.

The first contest Friday against Eastman Selects ended in a 2-2 final score. Mykayla Pylypow and Madison Glynn got the goals for the Sharks in the game.

On Saturday in a morning contest, the Sharks fell to the Winnipeg Avros 1-0, with Trinity Grove scoring the lone goal short-handed in the first period.

Later on Saturday, the Sharks lost to Pembina Valley Hawks 5-4. The Sharks got goals from Lacey Schneider in the first period and Kiana McNinch in the second, but with the score 2-1 Sharks at that point the Hawks scored four straight goals – two in the second and two in the third. Destiny Fiddler and Meadow Nordell got two late goals to make it interesting.

Finally on Sunday, the Sharks lost to Pilot Mound Academy, again by that now-familiar 5-4 score. The Sharks got a goal from Destiny Fiddler in period two and from Pylypow, Nicole Girolami and Jordyn Blais in the third period.

The Sharks now return to league action on Friday, as they play the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox for two games this weekend.
