Two North Stars up for league awards

Two players on the Battlefords North Stars are awaiting word this week on whether they will win league awards. One of those nominated is Quintin Loon-Stewardson who is the Global Ag Risk Division’s nominee for Player of the Year.

Two players on the Battlefords North Stars are awaiting word this week on whether they will win league awards.

One of those nominated is Quintin Loon-Stewardson who is the Global Ag Risk Division’s nominee for Player of the Year. He is up against Alex Malo of Flin Flon and Chantz Petruic of Yorkton.

The other North Star nominated is Matthew Fletcher, who is up for Best Defenceman against Alex Rondeau of Melfort and Devan Harrison of Estevan.

In the other categories the MVP race is between Cole Rafuse of Flin Flon, Logan Foster of Humboldt and Chantz Petruic of Yorkton. The race for Rookie of the Year is between Tristan Lemyre of Flin Flon, Karter McNarland of Humboldt and Griffin Asham-Moroz of Estevan. And the race for Top Goaltender is between Liam McGarva of La Ronge, Riley Kohonick of Notre Dame and Berk Berkeliev of Melville.

Voting for the league awards closed last week and winners are expected to be announced this week. The North Stars are in Humboldt Wednesday and play Kindersley at home Friday and again on the road on Saturday.
