However, Chaz Smedsrud came through in overtime as he scored just 34 seconds into the extra frame as the Hounds snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 win in Wilcox.

Alec Zawatsky had a strong offensive showing for the Hounds as he scored a goal and set up three others, including the overtime winner.

Smedsrud and Connor Mylymok each had a goal and an assist in the win, while teammates Chance Longjohn and Riley Perka also scored.

Zach Goberis, Michael McChesney, Hayden Guilderson and Jake Fletcher all had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

Meanwhile, Cody Hodgson’s third period goal was the difference maker for the Kindersley Klippers as they beat the La Ronge Ice Wolves for the second straight night in a 3-2 affair in La Ronge.

Devon Cyr and Tanner Thompson also scored in the victory, while Connor Smith and Blaise Arkle replied for the Ice Wolves.

In other SJHL news, the Nipawin Hawks announced Wednesday that forward Grant Baetsen is back with the team.

Meanwhile, the Melville Millionaires have acquired forward Elijah Carels from the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Okotoks Oilers for future considerations.

The 18-year-old from Bruxelles, Man., had no points in three games for the Oilers after an impressive 64-point campaign last year with the Pembina Valley Hawks in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League.
