Despite the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League announcing that the season would continue as normal, all playoff games planned for tomorrow have been suspended.

Hockey Canada released a statement March 12 that it was canceling all of the activities it sanctioned until further notice effective March 13 due to COVID-19. The cancellation includes national championships, including the Centennial Cup, the national junior A championship tournament.

"We recognize the tremendous effort that has been put forth all year by individuals across the country as they participate in Canada’s game. Although it is difficult to process the hockey season ending abruptly, we feel this is the best course of action in order to do our part in keeping our country safe," said a statement from Tom Renney, chief executive officer of Hockey Canada, and Scott Smith, president and chief operating officer.

On March 13, the Melfort Mustangs-Estevan Bruins, Nipawin Hawks-Battlefords North Stars and Yorkton Terriers-La Ronge Ice Wolves were set to battle each other. The Humboldt Broncos-Flin Flon Bombers series has already been completed.

The Mustangs, North Stars and Terriers have similar messages on their Facebook pages, saying the March 13 game had been postponed and that the team would let people know more details once they had more information.

On March 12, the NHL and the Western Hockey League announced they would pause their seasons due to COVID-19.
